What is the first thing that they tell boy scouts and wilderness training students to do if you ever get lost? 

They tell you and instruct you to go back to the place where you were when you know that you weren't lost and start again in a different direction into the future of your fucking life which may just hopefully amount to a few hours of uncertainty.
